Meet our Co-Founders
As business owners and entrepreneurs who’ve been on both sides of the tax game, Nethaniel Ealy and John Hyre co-founded The Augusta Rule to help others save tens of thousands of dollars.

John Hyre
John Hyre is a tax attorney, accountant, and real estate investor with over 30 years of experience.
He started his career at two major accounting firms and served as Tax Counsel for a Fortune 500 company—so he understands tax law at the highest level.
For the past 19 years, John has run his own accounting and tax law practices, working with business owners, real estate investors, and self-directed retirement accounts. He’s prepared thousands of returns, defended clients in audits and Tax Court, and built a reputation as one of the nation’s top experts on the Augusta Rule.
He doesn’t just teach strategy—he’s lived it. From mobile home parks to low-income rentals, John’s real-world investing experience gives him a practical edge most tax pros lack.

Nethaniel Ealy
Nethaniel Ealy is a husband, father of five, and longtime business owner based in Idaho.
For nearly a decade, he ran his companies the hard way—undercharging, overworking, and trying to fix problems by pushing through. Like a lot of entrepreneurs, he tolerated too much for too long and let “head-trash” about money and leadership slow him down.
Eventually, things shifted. He started raising his rates, building a real team, and letting go of the beliefs that held him back. Profits followed—but so did the tax bills.
Instead of handing over more money to the IRS, Nethaniel went deep into tax strategy and compliance. That’s when he found the Augusta Rule—and everything changed.
Since 2017, he’s used this powerful but underutilized section of the tax code to pay himself tens of thousands of dollars tax-free every year. Now, he’s on a mission to help other business owners do the same—without spending months researching or thousands on hourly advice.
Our mission is to put one billion dollars back in business owners’ pockets by 2030.
